CORDYCEPS

Cordyceps is considered living Tibetan gold. Due to its specific environmental requirements, cordyceps is very rare, currently occurring only on the Tibetan Plateau, Nepal and the mountains of the Chinese province of Qinghai at an altitude of 4,000 meters.

The first written records of Cordyceps date back to China around 600 AD. It was discovered in an interesting way - some parts of the Tibetan pastures provided the grazing cattle with astonishing vitality, strength and fertility. As the climatic conditions were similar in all pastures, but the quality of the cattle bred varied, the herders decided to try to uncover the cause. And they discovered that the shepherds with the best cattle had Cordyceps sinensis, a kind of parasitic fungus, in the grazed grass. And from that time scientists and doctors began to study the effects and composition of this exceptional fungusFor centuries, Cordyceps was the privilege of only the Chinese Emperor and his chosen ones, as the occurrence of the fungus is very rare, and the harvest is difficult.

The nickname Chinese caterpillar comes from the unusual shape of the mushroom - the Chinese originally thought it was a caterpillar. The truly extraordinary biochemical composition and exceptional benefits of Cordyceps are associated with its specific life cycle. The fungus parasitizes the caterpillars of alpine butterflies. This patient and systematic activity of the Cordyceps can last for several years, during which the fungus produces valuable substances. It takes nutrients from the caterpillar's body and uses its chitin shell for protection against harsh climatic conditions. Above the ground, Cordyceps germinates to a size of 5-15 cm.
